Την Τετάρτη 11 Μαρτίου 2026, στις 19:00, στο Φουαγιέ του Δημοτικού Θέατρου Πειραιά παρουσιάζεται το CHALKYON DAYS, μια διακαλλιτεχνική δράση που συνδυάζει ζωντανή μουσική και video art σε ένα ενιαίο, in situ οπτικοακουστικό περιβάλλον.

Συμμετέχουν η Γεωργία Μπαλαμπίνη (υψίφωνος), ο Μάριος Φούρναρης (videoart) και ο Mislav Režić (κιθάρα).

Η διάρκεια του προγράμματος είναι 64 λεπτά.

 

Στον πυρήνα του CHALKYON DAYS βρίσκεται μια ενιαία δραματουργία εικόνας και ήχου, όπου η ζωντανή εκτέλεση συνομιλεί σε πραγματικό χρόνο με το video art. Το video αρθρώνεται σε μια μη γραμμική ακολουθία κινούμενων εικόνων, σαν αποτύπωμα ενός κόσμου όπου η ανθρώπινη παρουσία έχει αποσυρθεί, αφήνοντας να αιωρούνται τα ερωτήματα της «μεγάλης φυγής» και των αιτίων της. Σε διάλογο με αυτή τη συνθήκη απουσίας, το μουσικό μέρος προτείνει μια σύγχρονη ανάγνωση της Αγγλικής Αναγέννησης, με έργα των John Dowland και Henry Purcell, μέσα από τη συνάντηση φωνής και ηλεκτρικής κιθάρας, με εφέ, βρόχους και αυτοσχεδιασμούς που ενοποιούν το πρόγραμμα σε συνεχή δομή.

Η συνέργεια εικόνας και ήχου γεφυρώνει το ιστορικό συγκείμενο αυτής της μουσικής με την κοινωνική πραγματικότητα του σήμερα: ο «αιώνας των άκρων» της Ελισαβετιανής περιόδου, ανάμεσα στην υπόσχεση νέων «κόσμων» και στη βία της επέκτασης, γεννά πίστη στον «νέο άνθρωπο» και ταυτόχρονα αμφιβολία γι’ αυτόν. Σήμερα, η πολεμική συνθήκη, η περιβαλλοντική κρίση, οι διευρυνόμενες ανισότητες και η αμφίσημη επιτάχυνση της τεχνολογίας επαναφέρουν με οξύτητα αυτή την ταλάντωση. Μέσα από το παιχνίδι ανάμεσα σε ίχνη παρουσίας και σε μια ριζική απουσία του ανθρώπινου υποκειμένου, το έργο υπενθυμίζει την εύθραυστη ανθρώπινη συνθήκη, την «πεμπτουσία της σκόνης» του William Shakespeare, ενώ ο τίτλος CHALKYON DAYS, παραπέμπει στις «αλκυονίδες μέρες» ως εύθραυστη ανάπαυλα και στην κιμωλία ως υλικό-σύμβολο ευαλωτότητας.

On Wednesday, 11 March 2026, at 19:00, at the foyer of the Municipal Theatre of Piraeus will be host CHALKYON DAYS, an interdisciplinary performance that brings together live music and video art within a unified, in situ audiovisual environment. Performing are Georgia Balabini (soprano), Marios Fournaris (video art), and Mislav Režić (guitar). The programme runs for 64 minutes.

At the core of CHALKYON DAYS lies a single dramaturgy of image and sound, where the live music performance enters into real-time dialogue with the video work. The video is structured as a non-linear sequence of moving images, like an imprint of a world from which human presence has withdrawn, letting the questions of a “great exodus” and its causes linger unresolved. In conversation with this condition of absence, the musical part offers a contemporary reading of the English Renaissance, featuring works by John Dowland and Henry Purcell, through the meeting of voice and electric guitar, with effects, loops, and improvisations that unify the programme into a continuous structure.

This interplay of image and sound bridges the historical context that produced this music with today’s social reality: the Elizabethan era, often described as an “age of extremes,” poised between the promise of new “worlds” for thought, science, and commerce and the violence of expansion. It generated both a powerful belief in the “new human” and a profound doubt about what that figure might entail. Today, the conditions of war, environmental crisis, widening inequalities, and the ambivalent acceleration of technology bring this oscillation back with renewed intensity. Through the tension between traces of presence and a radical absence of the human subject, the total action recalls the fragility of the human condition, the “quintessence of dust” named by William Shakespeare. The title CHALKYON DAYS evokes both the “halcyon days” as a fragile respite in winter and chalk as a material emblem of vulnerability.
